This livery was the fifth and last mask scheme to appear on a Garuda aircraft; the design is the result of a competition entitled 'Fly Your Design Through The Sky' throughout October 2020. The theme for this competition was "Building the Future of the Nation Together", and Johanna Angelia Christian won the first prize with this artwork based on Batik Tambal motives from Yogyakarta.

The theme of this third second phase of the contest was "Fly High and Stay Protected", and Helena Calista won the first prize with this Parang Batik pattern.

This livery was the second mask scheme to appear on a Garuda aircraft; the design is the result of a competition entitled 'Fly Your Design Through The Sky' throughout October 2020. This design was chosen as part of the first phase of the contest, with "Indonesian Pride" as a theme. Patterns included in the design of the winning entry by Jailani Sidik include Balinese Barong motif, a Komodo Dragon as well as various representations of cultural wealth and national landmarks.

This mask livery was unveiled on October 1, 2020 to emphasize support for the government policies. Garuda Indonesia then held an aircraft mask livery design competition entitled 'Fly Your Design Through The Sky' throughout October 2020. Four additional designs were chosen and applied to two 737, an A330 and a 777.
